Pet Food Assistance
Humane Society of Utah- Pet Retention Program intended to provide assistance and resources to pet owners who wish to keep their pet(s) but are experiencing hardship.
Nuzzles & Co. Pop-Up Pet Pantry- With the financial support of the Jason Heigl Foundation, Nuzzles & Co. is helping people laid-off or with reduced hours due to COVID-19 by giving pet food and litter to help animals stay in their homes. Please follow their Facebook page for their pantry schedule.
Salt Lake County Animal Services Pet Crew Pet Pantry- SLCOAS is doing regular drive-up pet food pantries, providing dog and cat food for pick up. Best Friends Mobile Veterinarian App- It’s not hard to imagine: Suddenly, you have an urgent question about caring for your pet and want to speak to a veterinarian. Good news: Now there’s an app that lets you connect immediately with a licensed veterinarian via phone or video call. The Best Friends Vet Access app, powered by Vets Plus More, can save you trips to the vet — or let you know that you need to get to an emergency vet. You can also text a vet if you just have a quick question.
Humane Society of Utah- The Humane Society of Utah's state-of-the-art clinic has full-time licensed veterinarians. In addition to the medical services provided for all shelter animals prior to adoption, the Humane Society of Utah Clinic offers affordable health and population control options for the community including spay/neuter surgeries and low cost vaccinations and microchipping.
Midvalley Animal Clinic- Midvalley Animal Clinic is proud to serve Salt Lake City, UT and surrounding areas. Salt Lake Spay and Neuter- Salt Lake Spay and Neuter is dedicated to providing low cost spay and neuter procedures to help maintain the pet population, keep unwanted pets out of shelters, and prevent health and behavioral problems down the road. n addition to spay and neuter services for your cats, dogs and rabbits, we also offer vaccinations, micro-chipping, and Heart Worm prevention.

My Pit Bull Is Family- My Pit Bull is Family manages the nation’s largest database of dog inclusive rentals along with a robust Community Partner database – through these two programs they are able to provide services to families in need and keep pets at home. Our team focuses on having conversations with property management companies, conducting pet policy research studies, building relationships in the community and providing resources to keep families together.
Emotional Support Animals (ESA)- Want to register your pet as an Emotional Support Animal (ESA)? Click HERE for more information about the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and what rights you may have under the law. Please note the only thing required to have your companion animal certified as an ESA is a letter from a physician or other medical provider, or a mental health service provider. Animal Shelters and Rescues
CAWS Rescue- CAWS is a no-kill, volunteer and foster-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is working with the community to help animals. As Utah’s oldest animal rescue group, their ongoing rescue, foster, education and adoption programs help animals whose time is up at shelters, those who are abandoned, and as resources allow, those whom their owners can no longer keep.
Humane Society of Utah- The Humane Society of Utah is the largest open-admission animal welfare organization in the state. They welcome any companion animal that can legally be admitted and work to find each pet a new loving home.
Salt Lake County Animal Services- Largest no-kill municipal shelter in Utah, serving the citizens and pets within the Salt Lake County Metro Townships, Bluffdale City, Holladay City, Midvale City, Millcreek, and Salt Lake City.
Rover- Whether you need in-home dog or cat boarding, pet sitting, dog walking, or day care, Rover connects pet parents with people who’ll treat their pets like family.
Care.com- Finding quality pet care that you can trust doesn't have to be so hard. Care.com is here to help you find the care you need for your pet. Compare caregiver profiles, read reviews from other pet parents, and search by experience or pay rates to find the match you have been looking for.
The following pet-focused Utah Facebook groups allow private rehoming or requests for temporary foster care from individual parties (if using a private foster home not associated with an organization we strongly recommend using a contract to protect the owner, caregiver, and pet. Humane Society of Utah Private Pet Rehoming- As a responsible pet owner, you can rehome your pet yourself and save them the stress of entering an animal shelter. You know your pet better than anyone, and you can find a new loving home for your pet with the resources on this page. HSU encourages you to look into alternative solutions to keep your pet, if possible, before making the decision to rehome them. They offer this service as a courtesy and best option before surrendering your pet through their Admissions Department.
